The fore mentioned conference took place at Mulungushi International Conference in Lusaka, Zambia from may 26th-28th 2010. Twenty pre conference events were held on Wednesday 26th May, 2010
These pre conference events were crowned by a Speaker’s reception sponsored by COMESA at Hotel Taj pamodzi.
The main conference events were held on 27th and 28th May, 2010.
Conference events days were opened by plenary sessions on building and expansion of technology enhanced education and training in Africa.
On Thursday 27th participants were invited to a reception outside the Mulungushi Conference center buildings, this was an opportunity to participants to interact and meet useful and prospective parterners for various projects.
A total of 1778 delegates from 78 countries attended the conference which had 60 parallel sessions, 350 Spearkers of which I was one made presentations, My presentation demonstrated a practical example of using web 2.0 technologies in a university.

The education-africa project (http://www.education-africa.com) is a project that trains teacher educators to enhance their ICT skills. The project also targets to realize increase in student teachers ICT competences. The project uses web 2.0 tools such as wikis, blogs, forums and content management systems to help familiarize student teachers prepared in partener-ring universities on the African continent with skills in technology enhanced or supported education.
Education-africa does not limit its networking to teacher training institutions but also involves experts in other fields that are of benefit to the project.
Project partners and organizations include Linuxola.org ( http://www linuxola.org) that dispatched 22 computers to Mbarara University of Science and Technology through faculty of Science, department of Education foundations and Psychology. The organization also trained 20 members of staff in the use and applications of Linux operating system for education purposes.
The elearning Africa conference was a great opportunity for sharing knowledge and practical experiences in ICT for development in Africa. A total of seventeen demonstrations and best practices example were displayed, sixty sessions in ten parallel conference stands were done and a total of three hundred fifty speakers from fifty one countries were involved. I look forward to participating in future events.
